84 - James – “I feel so lonely as a Christian. No one around me is taking the Lord seriously.” (04-20-2019)

REPLY TO MY RECORDING: Brother Michael, I love you dearly. You touched on everything I am feeling, and I am strengthened in the Lord, because I had never felt this way before especially about my own brothers and sisters in Christ, his peace has returned, not so heavy right now. You have said everything that I needed to hear, the words are from the Lord.

Michael, I don’t know if I can encourage you, but I can say this, and you already know, the best is yet to come, wait for it. Thank you for taking the time out for me despite going through all of what you are going through right now, but it was all I needed to hear, that it’s just not happening to me only. I am alone, but not lonely. When all the students are in crisis, they will seek out the teacher.

I love you brother!
— James (14-20-2019)

Walking with God in an Ungodly World: Finding Strength in Solitude

Have you ever felt a sense of loneliness in your walk with Christ, like brother James in today’s recording, as if you're on a different path than those around you? A.W. Tozer, in his profound article The Saint Must Walk Alone, reminds us that loneliness is often the price of sainthood. Throughout Scripture, we see examples of faithful individuals who walked closely with God and, as a result, experienced a sense of separation from the world.

Enoch walked with God and was no more, for God took him (Genesis 5:24). Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, yet he built the ark amidst the scoffs of his contemporaries. Abraham, the father of faith, communed with God in solitude, receiving divine promises that set him apart.

These faithful individuals loved their people and desired fellowship, but their unwavering devotion to God led them down a path less traveled. They yearned for understanding and companionship, but often found themselves alone in their spiritual experiences. "I am a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my own mother’s sons" (Psalm 69:8).

This loneliness is not a sign of weakness or a call to withdraw from the world. Rather, it throws us back upon God, deepening our dependence on Him and strengthening our relationship with Him. In the quiet moments of solitude, we discover that Christ is our all in all. He is our wisdom, our righteousness, our sanctification, and our redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30).

In a world that often values conformity over conviction, it can be challenging to find true spiritual companionship. But let us not be discouraged. May we embrace the loneliness of the faithful, knowing that we are never truly alone. Christ has promised, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Let us find strength in solitude, drawing closer to God and trusting Him to fill the void that only He can satisfy.
