85 - Christian – “You are making the path of salvation far too complicated!”
“You are making the path of salvation far too complicated and missing the simplicity of faith in Christ which saves even the thief on the cross. When Jesus was teaching in the Gospels, he was teaching the Jews, not us Gentiles. Paul spoke the gospel simply in the book of Acts…it is easy to believe and be saved. You are preaching another gospel, which is no gospel at all.”
The Powerless Gospel: A Dangerous Deception
Many claim the name of Christ, but do their lives bear the fruit of true discipleship? Jesus Himself warned us, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21). These are sobering words that challenge us to examine the genuineness of our faith. We have listed on our website, 24 kinds of faith the Bible lists, which are counterfeits and cannot save you in the end.
True faith is not merely an intellectual acknowledgment of Jesus' existence. It is a complete surrender to His Lordship, a willingness to obey His commands and follow in His footsteps. "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23). This requires a changed heart, a transformed life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus promised abundant life to those who truly follow Him. He spoke of divine provision (Matthew 6:31-34), rest for the weary (Matthew 11:28-30), and an abiding contentment found in Him alone (John 4:13-14). He promised freedom from the slavery of sin (John 8:31-36), a peace that surpasses all understanding (John 14:27), and the joy of answered prayer and abundant fruitfulness (John 15:5-11).
These promises are not for those who simply give intellectual assent to the gospel. They are for those who actively abide in Christ, demonstrating their love for Him through the second half of the great Commission, “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”. "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me" (John 14:21). Do you know Him? Does your life reflect the transforming power of His love? Let us not be deceived by a powerless gospel, but embrace the fullness of life found in wholehearted obedience to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
