Why I Stopped Celebrating Christmas

While living in India in 2016, I made this recording for a sister in Christ who was having doubts about celebrating Christmas.  I told her the story of why I stop celebrating Christmas, and then shared many Bible verses with her to show her from Scripture how God feels about the man made tradition and pagan roots of Christmas.

FALSE TEACHING

There were also false prophets among the people,
just as there will be false teachers among you.
- 2 Peter 2:1

A power hungry, money loving, arrogant talking, gun using, violent force endorsing, Patriotic, POLITICAL Jesus might be found on the steps of the White House, but NOT anywhere in the Bible. That is a different Jesus!

Heb 11:14-16 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. (15) If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. (16) Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

John 18:36 Jesus said, "My kingdom is NOT of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."

John 6:15 Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

Mat 11:29-30 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Luke 12:14-15 Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" (15) Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

Mat 5:38-42 "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' (39) But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. (40) And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. (41) If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

Luke 17:20-21 Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, (21) nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."

2 Timothy 2:3-4 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. (4) No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer.

Matthew 26:52 "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.

1Pe 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

Rev 13:10 If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints.
