A Teenager's Guide to Walking with God
Dear young friend in Christ, are you struggling to balance the demands of school with your desire to serve God? Do you wonder how to surrender your school life to Him? Know that you are not alone. Many young Christians, just like 15-year-old Larry in today’s recording, face this same challenge. The good news is that God cares deeply about every aspect of your life, including your education.
Firstly, remember that God established authority. "Obey the laws of the land," (Romans 13:1) which includes pursuing your education. See your schooling as an opportunity to develop discipline and the ability to learn, skills that will serve you well as you study God's Word.
Secondly, trust God with the results. "The gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have," (2 Corinthians 8:12). God values your effort and your heart, not just your grades. Do your best, knowing that your best is good enough for Him.
Thirdly, seek God's guidance for your future. "Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it," (2 Corinthians 8:11). Pray and ask God to reveal His plan for your life. He may have a different path for you than you expect. Remember, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these," (Mark 10:14). If Jesus welcomed little children, how much more will He listen to your heartfelt prayers?
Finally, immerse yourself in God's Word. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for ever good work," (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Memorize Scripture, meditate on it, and pray God's Word back to Him. This will strengthen your faith and anchor your soul in times of doubt.
School can be challenging, but it's also an opportunity to grow in wisdom and knowledge. Seek God's guidance, trust in His plan, and let your light shine brightly in your school community.
