62 - Jasen – “Can Christians use online dating sites?”
“Jasen’s Email Reply to my recording:”
”Thank you so very much Michael. I totally get what you are saying. When you talk about having faith and placing it all in God’s hands. Your voice has encouraged me to do exactly that.
And yeah, I am still working on living life in Christ to the fullest.. and it is hard. There are still things I feel convicted about. Whether it be my laziness at home, my social anxiety or pride in general, however it might manifest.
I sometimes wish for a wife because things can be lonely; not really having people around me who have a desire, passion and understanding for God that I know exists in hearts like yours. And really, now that I think about it, I would absolutely not want a wife who lacks that type of heart. That would probably be the end of me. But the best thing in the world, aside from God, is a woman who can walk with me towards God. That is something worth waiting for!
So yeah, thank you again for such a thoughtful and perceptive message. Hopefully I can receive another one haha. Please pray for me to seek wholeheartedly after God and life in Christ to the full. To have confidence that when I close my eyes in this life, my eyes will open to eternal life in the next. Please please please.
Blessings and peace to you!
Jasen”
Seeking God's Best in Relationships
Are you seeking a life partner? Do you feel the pressure to find "the one," perhaps turning to dating apps or websites in your search, like Jasen? As Christians, we must approach relationships differently, remembering that "…'Everything is permissible'—but not everything is beneficial.” (1 Corinthians 10:23). While dating sites might seem like a convenient solution, they can lead us down a path of heartache and away from God’s best.
The world tells us to pursue relationships relentlessly, but God calls us to patience and trust. Remember the story of Abraham’s servant seeking a wife for Isaac (Genesis 24). He prayed for guidance, and God faithfully led him to Rebekah. If you're struggling with loneliness or the desire for companionship, pour out your heart to the Lord. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
Proverbs 19:14 reminds us, "Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord." Instead of rushing into relationships, have the faith to seek first the kingdom of God, cultivating your relationship with Christ. He is the one who truly knows your heart and has a perfect plan for your life, including any future spouse, He may have for you.
Even when God chooses your spouse, that does not guarantee a trouble-free marriage. Think of Jacob’s wife Rachel, David’s wife Mychal, Samson’s Philistine wife, Hosea’s wife Gomer, or Ezekiel’s wife. All of them were chosen by God and all came with painful endings. Nevertheless, as I have learned from experience, when we know that God has chosen our partner, we can face any tragedies which may follow with no damage to our faith. Instead of being tormented, wondering if we were deceived by Satan, or our own foolish flesh, we can know they were sanctified afflictions, in direct accord with God’s mysterious will for our life, and they will always turn for our good. No one who hopefully waits for the Lord will be put to shame. (Isaiah 49:23)
