03 - Alexis – “I have brain damage and hear voices calling me names.”

Because of the sensitivity of Alexi’s condition, I am only including a few quotes from her original email. Because of the brain damage, her email, was very repetitive and difficult to understand.

She wrote of her brain damage from birth:

”i was born brain damaged the doctor cut my head with the forceps i had a bump as big as a tennis ball that blew up then shrunk down but damaged my brain making life harder for me 2 communicate so I couldn’t defend myself.....”

Even though she is an adult, her statements were often childlike in their nature, speaking of being adopted as an adult.

“if god can be trusted then pray that he will give me a daddy n mummy”

She wrote of wanting to be loved by God and having her dream parents and friends. She explained it was hard for her to write about her life because of the brain damage, but she had given her life to Jesus Christ and given up her beliefs in re-incarnation.
She wrote of experiencing Schizophrenia shortly after a boy attempted to molest her while she was sleeping:

“i got schizophrenia when i was 19 when i heard a great crowd of demons chanting i’m a slut i’m a whore over and over again.”

i was put on medication for schizophrenia…i did nothing 2 deserve these voices but hear voices calling me names. i remember waking up n seeing a dark figure with his hands on the back rest of the couch moving up n down this memory caused my schizophrenia.”

She wrote of feeling unloved and disrespected because of her condition, by all except a few close family, stating that “no one wants 2 love a brain damaged girl”

She went to express her innocence and sweet desire for a daddy and not any inappropriate attention, but that she seemed to attract bullies who saw her only as a sexual animal.

From Torment to Triumph: Finding Freedom and Healing in Christ

The enemy, Satan, prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). He is a thief who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He whispers lies, sows seeds of doubt, falsely accuses, cast evil suspicions, heaps abuse, and inflicts pain especially on the children of God. Some, like Alexis in our recording today, are tormented by his demonic forces, experiencing what the world often misinterprets as mental illness or schizophrenia. But the truth is, there's a spiritual battle raging, a battle for your soul.

The enemy’s attacks can leave us feeling broken, rejected, and alone. But the good news is, we are not orphans. We have a Father who longs to embrace us. "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling" (Psalm 68:5). This Father, God Almighty, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to offer us a way out of the darkness and into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).

Jesus Himself says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:28-29). He offers salvation, healing, and a hope that transcends this earthly life and Satan’s dominion. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:13). He knew you before you were born (Psalm 139:13-16). He has a plan for your life, a plan for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

So, are you in any torment?  Are devils whispering foul thoughts in your ears, or calling you names like they were Alexis? I urge you today, call upon the name of the Lord (Romans 10:13). Confess your sins and turn away from them. Forgive those who have hurt you, for "if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Heavenly Father will not forgive your sins.
